About this whole thing

I’m Jeff. I’m usually building, fixing, restoring, or figuring out something.

I’ve never been very good at having just one hobby. I tend to follow whatever has grabbed my attention, learn enough to get into trouble, and keep going until the thing works—or at least teaches me something useful.

Your photo—or a good shot of you working on something

This isn’t a résumé.

There isn’t a giant project count, a trophy case, or a list of invented breakthroughs here. This site is simply a running notebook for the things I’ve actually made, repaired, experimented with, and learned.

Some projects are substantial. Some are tiny problems that somehow become elaborate engineering exercises. I like both kinds.

What tends to show up here

Cars & Machines

Old cars, restoration work, mechanical mysteries, and machines with stories worth preserving.

AI & Experiments

Software experiments, learning agents, prototypes, and questions that are more fun to test than merely discuss.

Making Things

Fabrication, props, tools, and the things that have to be made because the right part cannot be bought.

Stuff I Figured Out

Build notes, useful mistakes, and explanations I wish I could have found before I started.

A couple of projects that explain me pretty well

Griff's BMW for a BMW ad campaign in 2015

Griff’s BMW

I bought a battered movie car from Back to the Future Part II, hauled it home with my dad, and helped restore the strange flying BMW back into something recognizable.

PAC-MAN 256 AI

An ongoing reinforcement-learning experiment—and a good example of turning a perfectly reasonable game into a much larger engineering project.

That’s the honest version.

I’m not trying to look like a consultancy or pretend every curiosity became a major achievement. I’m documenting the real work, one project and one useful mistake at a time.
